Sugar Rush

Inspired by a lifetime at the shore, and weekends at the boardwalk, this piece started out as an ode to water clown games, old fashioned arcades, shooting galleries, and of course… cotton candy. I loved that giant pillow of fluffy, sparkly, spun sugar. It was like a cloud of joy atop a striped paper cone. Even eating it was fun. Little pink tendrils of fluff coming off all five fingers… like tiny troll wigs.
With all the little bits and pieces I added, and the super happy clown guy, this painting started to feel very frenetic — in a way where it makes your mind crazy but intrigued at the same time. That’s how I came up with the title… “Sugar Rush”.
