Insomnia

This painting features several of my favorite inspirations… vintage dolls, games, books, children’t toys, the circus, and street art. It started out solely as a circus piece, but because I was being extra bold with my color choices, it took on more of a comic book feel. So I added elements, icons and imagery that spoke to the more contemporary pop art side of my work. When I was done, the chaos I created and the stupefied look on the dolls face reminded me of my brain when I can’t sleep, and so I named it “Insomnia”.
