You may have noticed that my good friend Tillie shows up A LOT in my art! His smiling countenance used to grace the sides of the Palace Amusements building in Asbury Park, NJ, where I had lots of summer fun times as a child, teen, and still do today as an adult. Asbury is also where Bruce Springsteen got famous, and so I etched his name into the painting as an ode to one of my favorite homegrown musicians. That’s how the piece got it’s title... “Bruce Was Here”
